Lab-grown emeralds are physically, chemically, and optically similar to naturally mined emeralds. This means that they have the same crystal chemical formula but a slightly different growth structure and inclusion pattern which is usually identified through microscopic analysis by a gemologist or by an experienced eye in the trade.
These emeralds are far more affordable than mined emeralds and are technically real emeralds with the exception of how they were formed - high pressure, temperature phenomena simulated in a laboratory than naturally occurring in the crust of the earth.
